雙絞線早是被用於電話信號的傳輸，後來逐漸被引入到數字信號的傳輸當中，目前廣泛運用得主要是超五類雙絞線及六類雙絞線。
雙絞線中的八根銅導線的作用
雙絞線的銅導線每兩根會按必定的密度纏絞在一起，這樣在傳輸信號時，彼此間輻射的電波就會彼此抵消，削減電磁信號彼此間的攪擾。
雙絞線的接法一般有兩種：
正線(標準568B)：兩端線序一樣，線序是：橙白，橙，綠白，藍，藍白，綠，棕白，棕。
反線(568A)：一端為正線的線序，另一端為：綠白，綠，橙白，藍，藍白，橙，棕白，棕。

is widely used in the Category 5 twisted pair and Category 6 twisted pair.
The role of eight copper wires in a twisted pair
Each of the copper wires of the twisted pair is twisted together at a certain 
density, so that when the signal is transmitted, the electric waves radiated 
from each other cancel each other, and the electromagnetic signals are disturbed 
from each other.
There are two types of twisted pair connections:
The positive line (standard 568B): the line order is the same at both ends, 
the line order is: orange white, orange, green white, blue, blue white, green, 
brown white, brown.
Reverse line (568A): Line order with one end being a positive line, and the 
other end is: green white, green, orange white, blue, blue white, orange, brown 
white, brown.
