光模塊，是指進行光電和電光轉換的光電子器件，即將發送端的電信號轉換為光信號，將接收端的光信號轉換為電信號。光模塊主要由光纖接口、信號處理單元和電路接口三部分組成，廣泛應用於數據中心、電信網絡和接入終端領域。
如今的光模塊已經歷了速率提升、封裝形式改變、接入應用改變和功能提升等方面。其中SFP支持熱插拔，可即插即用，速率也越做越高。
隨着集成工藝的提升，可實現將XFP裝進SFP，不僅外觀比早期XFP的尺寸縮小約30%，而且還和SFP功能相同，但同時簡化了設計，縮小了功耗。

Integrated wiring knowledge: types of optical modules
Optical module refers to an optoelectronic device that performs photoelectric 
and electro-optical conversion, that is, converting electrical signals at the 
transmitting end into optical signals, and converting optical signals at the 
receiving end into electrical signals. Optical modules are mainly composed of 
three parts: optical fiber interface, signal processing unit and circuit 
interface, and are widely used in data centers, telecommunication networks and 
access terminals.
Today's optical modules have experienced speed improvements, packaging 
changes, access application changes, and functional enhancements. Among them, 
SFP supports hot swap, plug and play, and the speed is getting higher and 
higher.
With the improvement of the integration process, the XFP can be installed 
into the SFP, which not only has an appearance about 30% smaller than the size 
of the earlier XFP, but also has the same function as the SFP, but at the same 
time simplifies the design and reduces the power consumption.
